02 May Sant Jordi 2025: Poetry, Prose and Music
On April 23rd, we celebrated our school’s “Jocs Florals“, an event that brings together literature, music and art. Our spaces were filled with colour through student-created drawings and artistic works, transforming the school into a vibrant visual exhibition.
Poetry and Prose Awards
At our school, the “Jocs Florals” are more than a literary contest: they are a chance to hear our pupils’ voices and celebrate their creative effort with pen in hand. Students distinguished by the juries in both the Catalan and English poetry contests, as well as prose (Thought Journals), read their works from the stage and received traditional floral awards. Their words – which you can see here handwritten by the authors themselves – showcase their sensitivity and literary effort.

Tributes to Andersen and Machado
The celebration highlighted two literary anniversaries: the 150th anniversary of Hans Christian Andersen‘s birth and the 80th anniversary of Antonio Machado‘s death. Our 4th grade students moved us with their performance of “Cantares” by Joan Manuel Serrat, based on verses by the Sevillian poet.
Participation by All Students
All student groups played important roles in the celebration through dances, poetry recitals and songs. One standout performance was the interpretation of “Aquesta terra és la nostra terra” (Xesco Boix‘s version of Woody Guthrie‘s original), sung by our 3rd graders.
An Unforgettable Cultural Celebration
This edition of the Floral Games was once again a demonstration of our students’ talent, effort and passion for literature and arts. We want to thank all families for their participation, which turned this cultural event into a true community celebration.
